We’re two brothers, Laurent and Pierre. We started our careers in different fields. After having finished his law and entrepreneurship studies, Laurent worked for a big law firm. He spent his days defending banks. In terms of fulfilling his childhood dream, he was pretty far off. Pierre is an electromechanical engineer specialized in energy. He worked as a consultant and spent his days making electric network simulations for a big European energy supplier. In the middle of an early-life crisis, he fed the crazy ambition that his actions had a real impact on the world.
And then, there is our father, Jean-Benoit Martinot, who spent a large part of his career researching on respiratory issues, partly at RespiSom, a medical centre for research in the field of respiration that he co-founded in 2014. It was in 2002 that he decided to focus his research on sleep, a topic he had always been passionate about. Since then, he has been at the head of a reputed sleep clinic within the Catholic University of Louvain. One day, weary of our respective careers, we were discussing the future when he told us: “There is still so much to do in the field of sleep science…”
